As part of a project funded by the federal government and the Ontario Ministry of Education, and thanks to the excellent collaboration of the Groupe de recherche sur la LSQ et le bilinguisme sourd of the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM), and the research team of Dr. Tobias Haug of the Sign Language Assessment Services, CBLS has developed an LSQ skills assessment system, the only tool of its kind in Canada! Since fall 2020, this system is available to anyone who wants to know their level of proficiency in LSQ, whether as an interpret or a teacher, as a Deaf person, or simply out of curiosity.

The second phase in the implementation of EvaLSQ was to increase our capacity to support the continuity of these services, and this was completed at the end of 2021. A first cohort of interviewers and evaluators received LSQ linguistics workshops and mentorship from our team of experts, so we are able to accommodate a bigger group of candidates.
